James was born and raised in the Woodburn area, graduated from Woodburn High School and received his Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Chemeketa Community College.

He served 6 years in the Oregon Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer then joined the Hubbard Police Department in 1990 as a Police Reserve Officer. His other duties there were as a Patrol Officer, Bike Officer, Community Policing Officer and School Liaison Officer. He also mentored many students at North Marion Schools until he retired from the Police Department in 2011.

James enjoys working with buyers and sellers, offering guidance in the home buying experience, so that the home fits their lifestyle, personality and budget. Whether you are upsizing, downsizing or looking to invest, James can assist you with all your real estate needs.

James worked for 26 years at Do it Best Corporation one of the largest distribution centers in the Willamette Valley before semi-retiring. He was in charge of maintenance for the Corporation’s Woodburn Distribution Center for the entire western division. His experience there gives him the understanding of home improvement from repair, upgrading or modernizing homes, which can be of value to his clients.

James has always believed in giving back to the community. He has been an active member of the Woodburn Fire Department since 1985 and currently serves as a Firefighter, Apparatus Operator, Emergency Medical Technician (Basic), Trainer and Mentor. He is a current member of the Hubbard City Council and has been honored with the Woodburn Chamber’s Distinguished Service Award in 1999.

He is a member of the Woodburn Kiwanis Club, Woodburn Area Relay for Life and Board member for Love Santa Inc. He assists in several other community service functions when needed and asked.

His hobbies include camping, vintage cars, traveling, boating and spending quality time with his family and friends. James is most proud of the wonderful marriage he has with his wife Gina, celebrating over 30 years together. They have two daughters, one a dental hygienist, married and living in North Dakota, and the other studying to be a paramedic.
